Hi, I'm Lou.
Personal Trainer & SGPT Coach
I have been working as a Fitness and Personal Trainer for over 15 years now. Coming into the industry as an older person has helped me to understand the unique fitness needs and challenges of my older clients allowing me to provide a tailored approach to age related concerns.
I'm keen to encourage individuals to stay active, keep independent, in turn improving their social lives and their health, both mental and physical. I work to make a positive impact on others and help people enjoy a fulfilling life/work balance.
Age is not, and should not be a limiting factor.

My Story
I have been interested in fitness ever since I was at school where I was a pretty average member of our athletics team (much to my disappointment), and was probably only picked for the long distance races that I loved because nobody else was daft enough to want to do them. Even then as I puffed my way around the running track (only ever coming in third or fourth), I wanted to be better. To this day I have never ‘won’ a race but over the last 15 years I have trained hard and competed in (and finished) two 70.3 Half Ironman races, The London Marathon, numerous triathlons, half marathons, 10k races, Adventure Races and Coast to Coast Events. Endurance seems to be my thing. I don’t come first but I do win because I keep going until I get to the end. To complete these races, strength training is key, and that is also a passion of mine. I’ve weight trained ever since I was about 18, and was then fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to start my career as a personal trainer and fitness instructor 15 years ago. I also won a body building competition at 51 which, at the time was a very interesting development. It took me to the sharp end of the industry and I learnt a lot from that.
When I’m not training in the gym, I also work as an artist, mostly drawing portraits of pets or botanicals, designing greetings cards and teaching people how to draw in my art workshops.
I also am very lucky to have a lovely Sprollie dog called Cody, he is my constant companion, running buddy and ball boy. We also take part in Flyball Club Competitions together.
What I Do
I utilise my extensive knowledge and experience as a seasoned personal trainer to assist clients in achieving optimal health and longevity. I specialise in developing tailored fitness plans that not only enhance overall well-being but also address the unique physical and mental demands of endurance sports such as running and cycling. Integrating strength training into your regimen, I ensure you build resilience and enhance performance in your chosen activities. Nowadays, as I’m that much older, my own strength training is more around investing for the future, being able to stay mobile, strong and independent in my later years and I really enjoy sharing that with my older clients, helping them to become more confident, stronger and improve their overall fitness. It’s also a great social activity, get together, have fun!
